Since 2023, Duolingo has offered iOS users language learning courses as well as math and music courses. Now, finally, the math and music courses are becoming available on the Android app as well. So, now there’s no excuse for not knowing that 2 + 2 = 4.

Duolingo brings music and math to Android

Ahead of DuoCon 2024, the math and music courses available on iOS since October 2023 are starting to become available to Android users. If you don’t see them in the course picker yet, simply update the Duolingo app to gain access to them.

Even if you don’t go looking for them, the next time you use Duolingo, you’ll see a popup introducing you to the two new courses and inviting you to start learning.

The math and music courses should be available to start anytime from the course picker found in the top left corner of the app. Tap it, then tap the + Course icon. Duo will ask you what you want to learn, and you’ll find music and math courses, along with French, Spanish, German, and all the other languages Duolingo has introduced over the years.

Adding new skills beyond languages

Duolingo’s math course is designed to appeal to both kids and adults. It has a beginner section filled with “basic skills for kids,” and an intermediate section with “more challenging exercises” designed to “enhance everyday skills.”

Duolingo’s music course is designed with everyone in mind. Before you begin, you’ll be asked about your level of experience, and then you can choose either Section 1 or Section 2 as your starting point. Section 1 asks you to “play your first notes and songs,” while Section 2 asks you to “play songs with the white keys.”

While the music and math courses differ from standard language courses because of the skills being taught, they use the same basic lesson structure and gamified learning experience. This means they look and feel both familiar and new at the same time.

This Super Duolingo Subscriber Is Interested

As a Super Duolingo subscriber, I must say that these additional features have renewed my interest in using Duolingo on a daily basis. Although I always enjoy learning new languages on the app, the chance to switch things up by learning music and strengthening my math skills is refreshing. 2 + 2 = 5, right?
